Style Shoot Series I: Glam Edge
Wednesday, May 09, 2012
Hello lovely readers!
Today's post will be the first of a series featuring photos from a shoot I styled with DC lifestyle photographer and friend Sara Sultan of Sara Sultan Photography. With her uncanny eye for detail, I knew Sara would make a great partner for shooting a style series! Sara dabbles in a variety of photo projects (like this one) and has a unique photo-journalistic approach to capturing engagements and weddings. She and I thought it would be fun to combine our passions and do a shoot showcasing different styles. My friend Shima was on board to help model the looks, and Bonnie was there to work her magic with hair! Usmaan Chaudhry of UZC Pictures was also on hand to help out with the shoot.
The backdrop we originally chose was a cute vintage park in Maryland, but DC's unpredictable spring weather forced us to change the venue last minute on account of rain! But that wasn't about to stop us - Sara had the brilliant idea to shoot the scenes in DC's wonderfully historic Union Station instead. And what a great decision that turned out to be - DC's oldest train station made a perfect backdrop for the looks we wanted to create! Feel free to also follow Sara on Facebook and Twitter for more lovely shots!
This post features Shima dressed in a perfect blend of feminine, edgy and glam styles. First, I took a feminine cream chiffon pleated dress and layered it with a black leather moto jacket. Then I added a fur collar stole for that over-the-top glam factor. I finished off the look with these fabulous gold open-toe booties and this perfect black leather and gold tasseled clutch, and of course, lots of layers of gold wrist jewelry.
Dress: BCBG | Jacket: H&M | Fur Stole: J.Crew | Clutch: See by Chloe | Booties: Zara | Jewelry: Kenneth Jay Lane | Nail Polish: Essie
