I just love the Italian fashion houses. That being said, the S/S 2012 collection showcased at MFW last week was no disappointment. A short recap:
Sportmax: I love Sportmax for their professional and feminine look. Feminine florals, layered neutrals, and colored sequined suits. These were my favorites from MFW:
Blumarine: bright, sexy and playful with tropical flower patterned accents. Throw in this season's fringed trend for added drama.
Bottega Veneta defines class in pure Italian style. Corset-inspired dress in emerald, feminine pencil skirts paired with masculine leather boxy tunics, and all paired with Bottega's signature large leather bags.
D&G: Colorful, luxurious patterns with flashy gold jewelry accents. Italian mod cool.
Roberto Cavalli: Structured black tuxedo blazers paired with luxurious patterned and gold accented dresses.
Salvatore Ferragamo: Bright, colorful patterns and sexy dresses with slits up to there.
Love Italian fashion!

Here's a recap of a few favorite designers from S/S 2012 collection at NYFW:
I really love the sophistication of Zero + Maria Cornejo. As we can see from the s/s 2012 collection, primary colors (blue, red and yellow) were in full force with clean, structural lines and accented with bold ikat prints:
Another favorite of mine is Jenny Packham, especially for evening wear. This season, Ms. Packham delivered a punch of citrus-hued, airy pieces:
Then of course there's Reem Acra, whose s/s 2012 pieces I literally drooled over. We see her accenting pieces with embellished jackets and fur stoles, a common theme from last season. Just a few faves:
And finally, Naeem Khan with his distinct caftan silhouettes in fabulous prints and over-the-top embellishments:

Global Style is a trend we're seeing everywhere these days - and with that, we hear terms like "tribal fashion" and "nomad style" being thrown around. But what in the world does that even mean?!
These pieces as interpreted by the world's best designers include ikat print, fur, embroidery, leather and suede, fringe, animal print, feathers, and metal accented accessories. The trick, though, is styling these outstanding pieces with modern ones for a more contemporary look. They are thus paired best with modern boots and bags.
Roberto Cavalli is one of the masters of global style. Check out these looks from Just Cavalli S/S 2012 Milan Fashion Week:
