Hi dear readers!

I had to share one of my other favorite summer trends with you here: crop tops. Get that silly picture of cropped beach T's out of your head. I'm talking about fitted, sophisticated pieces to wear with high-waisted skirts or pants that show only a sliver of your midsection. The nice thing about wearing it this way is you don't need to have abs of steel to look good! The top I'm wearing here is slightly textured neoprene from Forever 21, believe it or not!

Another summer piece I'm loving is the white watch. It's bright, casual and fun and the perfect lightness to wear on your wrist during the hot months. I like how it's an easy statement addition.

During one of the first warm spring days, I started thinking about good summer work outfits. Summer in DC can be really muggy. And when you're taking the metro to work (like I do) it takes everything not to walk into work drenching.

So dressing in layers is important for summers here because it's hot outside but then freezing in the office. For work I like sticking to neutrals - they're conservative just enough - and layering different shades of neutrals on top of each other gives a sophisticated look. I also like dressing in ways that make it easy to transition from day to night for after-work dinners in the city.

What are some of your tips for dressing in the summer?

It's been a while since I posted a personal style feature... actually this is my first since our little one's arrival!

With spring finally here, I've been thinking about dressing in layers. One of my favorite pieces for in-between weather is a camo jacket. It goes with so much and the best part is you can wear it dressed up or down. I chose to wear it here slightly dressed up, with high-waisted black pencil pants and pointy-toed suede mules.  

I also recently picked up a few new accessories. I'm really excited about this purse I got from Reece Hudson. I love the geometric cut-out pattern and the awesome metallic bronze leather. It's a versatile neutral so it goes with practically everything, and the small size is perfect to carry when I have baby and her large diaper bag with me.

The sunglasses are from Dita - I just love the updated dramatic cat-eye shape.

I'm sure with this gorgeous weather you're also looking forward to breaking out some of those pieces that've been stashed away in your closet for too long! What are some of your favorite spring items?

I'm at 39 weeks here... and almost done with pregnancy (just one week left to go)! At this point I'm ready to be over with it and just want to meet the little one who loves kicking up a storm every night :)

I am at 7 months now! The weather is definitely starting to get colder, so I've taken to layering. Here I'm wearing a suit jacket around my shoulders to give a caped look. It works for the pregnancy silhouette and is also a good option for when weather is unpredictable. I'm also sticking to neutrals here - I tend to like neutrals anyway, but especially now because they complement each other and are great to layer.

This olive green is one of my favorite colors, probably because it works well with everything from beige to black. I got it recently from Forever 21, which I found has been a great source for pregnancy clothes because they're not much of an investment. Another thing I've learned about pregnancy fashion is that creating some structure in your ensemble - whether through a jacket or belt - is really important in avoiding a "tent" shape and not looking bigger than you really are.

Relaxing @ Cafe Benelux

On a recent visit to Milwaukee, it dawned on me that I’ve never done any posts on the city I called home for so many years. I was there to spend some quality time with family and friends, and realized there’s no better time than now to share with you what a unique city it is.

Summer is a great time to visit Milwaukee - not only are there myriad festivals celebrating music and food, there are also some beautiful spots downtown and by the lake to hang out. Over the next few posts, I’ll share with you some of my favorite places to go when I'm there - so next time you’re in town, you'll have some ideas of what to check out!

One day we spent visiting the Art Museum and strolling the boardwalk. The awesome structure you see here is the Quadracci Pavilion addition commissioned by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava in 2001. It's easily one of Milwaukee's most visually prominent and recognizable sites.

We wrapped up the day with some iced coffee at Milwaukee's most famous fair-trade coffee house, Alterra at the lake.
