With a 14-hour flight coming up, I'm asking myself what any normal person in my position would - what am I going to WEAR?!

Of course I want to look cute but be comfortable at the same time. So what will I need? A hat and sunglasses for sure - so I can sleep on the plane without having to worry about looking like this:


















So let's take a cue from some celebrity styles at the airport:



Oversize bag to carry books, ipod, notebook and camera: remember, traveling light is the best gift you can give yourself! I adore this bag from Chloe:

Comfy shoes - I love driving shoes! The first are from Jeffrey Campbell and the second by Elizabeth & James:
















A scarf or cardigan to layer in case it gets cold. I am loving these big colorful scarves from Tolani:

Cartier came out with this Indian-inspired jewelry collection a few years ago (but I didn't have a blog then) so I am posting it here for your visual pleasure.

What can I say about this collection beside state the obvious - it is regal! (I posted a pic of my favorite piece above). Mostly though, I loveeed the ad campaign: the misty photographs of models perched atop French furniture galore. The best part is the flapper vibe: the dresses, hair and makeup all roared 1920's. Cartier avoided what would have been an an easy (and obvious) oriental harem vibe - with Indian pillows, fans, caftans. Thank God they didn't do that! The result is a surprising contrast, showing traditional Indian jewelry can be worn with evening gowns for a chic and glamorous result.

The MTV Movie Awards is one place to wear edgy and cool designs... so it's no surprise this year's favorite seemed to be French designer Balmain with his strong cuts and colors and flashy embellishments. He is one of my faves, and here are some of my fave looks from that night:

This multi-colored mini on Mila Kunis looked great paired with this simple black blouse - the more leg you show, the better it is to show less of anything else - staying classy y'all! :)






















I thought this dress was alright, but Kristen Stewart really didn't do it any justice by forgoing the accessories... girlfriend isn't even carrying a clutch! Some jewelry would've helped.

I love when someone finds an unconventional way to wear a piece and makes it look effortlessly fabulous! And I love modern takes on traditional folk clothing like this!

So I'm going to try something a little new here guys... I've noticed a lot of bloggers post photos of their own style to show different and unique ways to mix and match accessories. I think it's a great idea: instead of your usual run-of-the-mill photos of celebrities or models wearing what they've had tons of stylists dress them in, you get a fresh take on personal style.

So I'm going to start posting a few of my own outfits here - don't think I'm full of myself or that I'm pretending to be a model - I have no such delusions! I will also label where I got each piece.

I'm looking for a new pair of summer sandals... (and flip-flops are not sandals!) Even though gladiators have been around for ages, has anything else so fierce come out to replace their utter domination? I think not. Gladiators are like the Lakers - you either love em or hate em.

I happen to love them :)

When Balenciaga came out with these knee-high gladiators a few years ago, I thought I would die from their fabulosity:





















Etro came out with their suede fringe pair around the same time (Spring 2008) and I love them too - it doesn't get more boho chic than suede fringe, my friends:


So here we are, summer 2011 and we still have gladiator sandals - this time in gold and courtesy of Chanel (Resort 2011) - just to show you the trend is indeed still alive to either your jubilation or consternation:

Aahhh I could talk about shoes all day... what is it with the cliche women and shoes? Why do we love them so much, especially when they cause us so much pain with those 5 inch heels! Maybe we love things that cause us pain (like men). lol, just kidding. No woman should love a man that causes her pain :)
