Hello there!
One of my favorite things to do in the fall is to go to nearby markets and check out local vendors. Recently I went to DC Meet Market in Logan Circle, where there were some great vendors selling their interesting designs! One vendor was selling gorgeous handknit pieces she sourced from Peru. Another created upcycled furniture pieces, and yet another had the cutest idea that converted a foodtruck into fashion and accessories boutique! You never know what you're gonna find when you go, which is half the adventure!
We finished up with snacks at Le Diplomate, which had the yummiest Vietnamese coffee ever!

Hello there lovely readers!
I'm at 30 weeks now (that's 7 1/2 months)... so the big day is approaching quickly! And I've started having dreams of meeting the little one. In the last one, she spoke perfect English at birth and was telling me, "Mommy, everything's gonna be OK!" :)
In the shots below, we took a coffee break at a cute corner bakery in Old Town Alexandria I'd been wanting to try out for a while called Bittersweet.

Hello there!
Still at 7 months, and enjoying the beautiful fall weather here in D.C. Sometimes hubby and I like to go for a stroll around Old Town Alexandria and explore the new shops and restaurants. We'd never tried Union Street Pub before, and found they had a pretty extensive brunch and lunch menu (lots of crabcakes!) It's right by the waterfront if you're ever in the neighborhood.
I'm wearing a dress from Asos Maternity here. It's the first piece I bought from them, and must say, I absolutely love it. I think I've already worn it a million times. I love the cute bird print and comfortable material, but most of all, I love the shape - empire waisted, cut right above the knee, with a flattering criss-crossing neckline. It's been the perfect thing to throw on in summer and now layer in fall.
xoxo

Hello lovely readers!
I'm at 24 weeks now (6 months!) Time is going quickly although I would've probably told you the opposite during my first trimester. There are still lots of things we must do to get ready for baby but so much information is out there that I'm trying not to overwhelm myself... at least not yet. In the meantime I'm just trying to stay healthy by eating clean and working out and doing yoga - pregnancy is a marathon, not a sprint and I want us to be strong!
So even though summer is officially over, we've been having gorgeous weather lately which made me bring back some summer clothes (I don't mind!) Here I'm wearing another breezy shift dress from BCBG. I just loved the neon green and navy blue combo in this cool geometric print. And you already know how I feel about shift dresses during pregnancy (yay!) If you follow The Style Matrix on Instagram, you'll also recognize this clutch I picked up last month. I couldn't wait to feature it on the blog. It's a great white and gold combo and the size was just PERFECT for pregnancy as it's big enough to cover my belly when I want.
Hope you're getting a chance to enjoy this great weather - it's perfect for getting out there and doing some fun fall activities!

Just a normal fall day in the District this weekend. It was exceptionally gorgeous out, so we took advantage and scoped some nice places to shoot outdoors. One of the nice things about living in DC is there are so many interesting backdrops to shoot at - monuments and memorials galore, and of course all the beautiful museums. I'm looking forward to shooting at some of these places very soon.
The dress I'm wearing here I found randomly in a cousin's closet (she didn't want it anymore) but I thought it had lots of potential. Again, I'm wearing it with pants because it's just too cold to wear something baring my legs right now, and I'm not insane to try.

Old Town Alexandria is a beautiful, quaint, quiet little neighborhood near us. It's one of the oldest communities still standing (since 1749!), so if you spend some time exploring the area, you're likely to find gorgeous narrow cobble-stoned alleys, tiny original houses and antique brick-lined walls and streets. We were out and about this weekend and came across this gorgeous bike tunnel near the harbor. It was a cool, grey day and you can see the mood perfectly in these pics. I'm wearing one of my favorite oversized cozy grey sweaters (which is now 10 years old!) And paired it with these cool faux leather leggings from Zara. They're not your typical leather leggings because they're cotton/spandex in the back, making them uber comfortable. I love wearing something cozy and soft like a big wool sweater with shiny, faux leather leggings. The combination is unexpected because of the mix of hard and soft. And that's what fashion's all about, really! Trying new things with an unexpected result that's still appealing.

This past weekend was that perfect time when the leaves changing colors
was at its peak. There are so many beautiful hidden spots to enjoy the fall. Here are some photos of a gorgeous tree-lined walkway of a church in Alexandria.
This weekend I wanted to wear something reminiscent of fall: orange, of course, and a full skirt to welcome brisker temperatures.
