After a love affair with eclectic mixes of bold patterns and bright colors, we decided to incorporate some ultramodern decor themes into our home. The idea: minimalist structures in sleek, acrylic textures accented by interesting decor pieces. At first glance, ultramodern decor can seem boring. But when done right, it creates an awesome futuristic mood and feels ultra stylish. The trick is in the lighting.

Do you shy away from long gowns because they feel too dressy? Then why not try what WhoWhatWear.com suggests and pair a belt with that gorgeous floor-sweeping frock? "Belts have the ability to ground fancy duds and make them skew a little more casual." Check out these examples for some inspiration on how to re-style that gorgeous gown of yours to get more wear out of it:
Notice how putting a belt or jacket on that long gown can dress it down and make it feel more appropriate for a not-so-fancy setting. Your best bet is to choose a belt or jacket that complements the look of the dress rather than overpowering it - so pick a belt or jacket that has similar tones or proportions to the dress you're wearing and you're good to go!

With most of the Fall/Winter fashion weeks over by now, we've all had a chance to hear about the Indian designers that made a huge splash in NY - Naeem Khan, Bibhu Mohapatra, Sachin + Babi. But ever wonder what's actually going on in fashion in India right now? Look no further! Following are some looks from India's recent F/W fashion week. What I love about Indian designers is that they're not afraid to mix patterns and colors in unique, unexpected ways. Who knows, maybe we'll be seeing some of these designers in NY in the near future!
Australian designers are really making a name for themselves recently. Check out this gorgeous lace dress from Australian brand Lover on Hanneli Mustaparta and Miranda Kerr:

This week's home decor post celebrates patterns. In particular, black and white chevron. I love the geometric boldness of black and white chevron. The best thing about this pattern is it provides a great background off which to build other color schemes. This pattern is best on an accent wall, rug, throw pillows, or even curtains and is a perfectly sharp contrast to crisp, bright colors like turquoise, canary yellow, and hot pink.
